Strike

Found out this week that the medical students are now on strike. Not sure of the issues, but apparently there was something of a riot at the university involving more than just the medical school and the students. My primary interest was teaching during the students' hospital rotations. Will have to come up with a plan B.

Umtata Mthatha 2010

Getting ready for a return to Umtata and Nelson Mandela Hospital. Still having trouble getting my application for a license approved. Besides the usual slow pace of such things, 1.3 million government employees just returned to work after a 3 week strike. If a final contract isn't approved in the next two weeks the strike will resume. But, we will press on and hope for the best. Maybe the medical school at Walter Sisulu University will be open for business. The medical students are supposed to be on their hospital rotations in September and October. We may have to drive down the road to meet them at school.
